Assistant Professor
South Dakota State University
Dr Menezes is currently an Assistant Professor of Ruminant Nutrition in the Department of Animal Science at South Dakota State University. The two main focus areas of Dr Menezes’ research program are fetal programming and energy metabolism. Dr Menezes aims to optimize dietary formulation for pregnant cows and heifers by better understanding the maternal-fetal crosstalk, as well as the impacts of dietary treatments on nutrient digestion, absorption, and efficiency of energy utilization in beef cattle.
Dr Menezes obtained her Bachelor in Animal Science for the Federal University of Viçosa (2014) and obtained her masters (2016) for the same university. Did her Ph.D. at Federal University of Viçosa and went to North Dakota State University (NDSU) for thirteen months as a visitor researcher. She did her Postdoc in Nutrition and Reproductive Physiology at NDSU, where she investigated the effects of maternal vitamin and mineral supplementation on fetal development and offspring efficiency of energy utilization in beef cattle.
