Visiting Researcher
Purdue University
Dr. Henrique Mulim is an animal scientist with a Ph.D. in Genetics and Animal Breeding from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) in Salvador, Brazil. Throughout his career, Dr. Mulim has focused on studying the genetic effects on production traits in a wide range of livestock species. With a strong academic background, Dr. Mulim completed his undergraduate and Master's degrees in Animal Science at the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG) in Brazil. He has received research grants from organizations such as Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado da Bahia (FAPESB), Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), and Fundação Araucária de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico.
Currently, as a visiting researcher at Purdue University, Dr. Mulim is actively involved in a research project investigating genomic regions associated with juniper consumption in goats. His expertise lies in analyzing genetic parameters for production traits, genotype-environment interaction, reaction norms, and genetic structure and genomic diversity. Driven by his passion for animal science, Dr. Mulim has pursued complementary education courses, including computational pipeline for WGS data, applications of population genetics, and quantitative genetics at the Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics in the United States. He has also completed courses in programming logic, SQL, and animal genetic laboratory testing. Dr. Mulim's dedication to animal science stems from his belief in its potential to improve the lives of both animals and humans. Through his research and academic pursuits, he aims to contribute to the field and make a lasting impact.
