Graduate Assistant - Masters Student
Colorado State University
My name is Claire Okoren and I am a Masters student in the Animal Sciences Department at Colorado State University. My current research is focused on the American Bison and the mineral and vitamin status in differing sexes and ages. My research also expands to investigate the rumen fermentation characteristics of bison using in vitro procedures and to analyze bison milk's mineral and vitamin qualities. I have also had the privilege of being involved in other areas of research, such as animal welfare and behavior: looking at euthanasia decision-making for end-of-life on dairy facilities and hair cortisol level sampling techniques. Before my graduate studies, I worked at VALO BioMedia-Iowa as a quality compliance specialist and safety coordinator, and I obtained my bachelor's in animal sciences at Iowa State University in 2020.
