Mr. Olufemi Adekunle Osonowo is an MSc student at Dalhousie University, Canada, specializing in sustainable livestock production. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in Animal Breeding and Genetics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Nigeria. His present research focuses on sustainable livestock production, specifically utilizing metabolomics and genomics to study feed efficiency in sheep.Mr. Osonowo has a rich background in research and agriculture, currently working as a Research Assistant at Dalhousie University and previously as a Farm Manager at LongCottage Agronomy Center and a Laboratory Assistant at his alma mater.
He has been recognized with several awards, including the MITACS Accelerate Intern Award and Metabolomics grant Award in 2023, and an Award of Leadership Excellence from the Nigeria Association of Agricultural Students in 2017.Mr. Osonowo has also invested in continuing education, earning certificates in Data Science Methodology, Machine Learning with Python, Project Management and Scrum Master Profession, and R Programming from Coursera. He has also earned numerous certificates in fields such as Data Science, Machine Learning, Project Management, and R Programming from Coursera, and others from the British Council and Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a Proficiency Certificate in Management from the Nigerian Institute of Management.
Mr. Osonowo has contributed to the field of genetics with his publication, “Haplotype Variation of Toll-like Receptor 2 Gene in Nigerian Indigenous Chicken” in 2022. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), Genetics Society of America (GSA), American Society of Animal Animal (ASAS) and Nigerian Bioinformatics & Genetics Network (NBGN). With his diverse skill set and research interests, Mr. Osonowo is dedicated to contributing to the advancement of sustainable livestock production and utilizing cutting-edge technologies for the benefit of the industry.
