Arturo Macias Franco, MSc, PhD, PAS, was born and raised in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. Surrounded by the dryland agricultural production systems of northern Mexico instilled a passion in him towards resource-limited production systems. Formalizing his passions led Arturo to the University of Nevada, Reno. The first ever Paul and Daisy Soros Fellow in the state of Nevada, and the first ever fellow recognized in the field of agriculture, a Google Scholar, and under many other prestigious awards- Arturo’s accolade of awards speaks to his approach and pursuits of excellence in all aspects of life. Since an undergraduate student, Arturo worked and quickly mentored other undergraduate and graduate students in the Mathematical Nutrition Modeling Laboratory. Arturo’s research interests are centered around sustainable intensification of livestock production which he explores through feed evaluation, analytical chemistry, in vitro and in vivo experiments, and through mathematical and statistical models with technology adoption and development.
